Maya Angelou is an American poet, memoirist and a civil rights activist. At birth, she was named as Marguerite Annie Johnson. She was born on April 4th, 1928 and died on May 28th, 2014.
She has published 7 autobiographies, three books of essays, several books of poetry and was credited with a list of plays, movies, and television shows. Her writing career spanned over 50 years.
